Production Engineer OVERVIEW Ubiquitous Energy seeks a skilled candidate to assist in the company---s architectural photovoltaic glass manufacturing scaling efforts. We are looking for an individual who is organized, a quick learner, and enthusiastic about the engineering challenges of bringing a new technology to the market. The candidate should be able to work independently on a broad range of manufacturing projects related to operations optimization, production scheduling, safety, and technology transfer. The candidate will be expected to work with external vendors, the R&D team, and the manufacturing team to plan out technology transfer and manufacturing ramp-up. The Production Engineer will report to the Vice President, Manufacturing. ENGAGEMENT DETAILS Employment Status: Full-time employee Location: Starting Full-time Remote, PST hours (Company HQ --- Redwood City, CA) with eventual expectation to be local to factory location (Phoenix metropolitan area) by 2023 for hybrid work Start Date: Q2 2022 Compensation: Commensurate with experience RESPONSIBILITIES Operations modeling to design production flow (buffer storage capacities, physical layout flow, plant staffing, etc.) Run projects on production control planning (coordinating with QC strategy) Own ramp-up planning documentation, organization, and cost estimates Assist with technology development projects with manufacturing development team Assist with project management organization for factory design and construction Assist with supply chain organization and projects with Purchasing team Some travel to headquarters is expected for training. Some travel to vendor locations for discussion and development work expected. Work with the rest of the Manufacturing team to help define major decisions on things such as process and vendor choices, factory layout and logistics, data stream planning, risk assessment and reduction, line startup timeline and ramping procedures, hiring plan, etc. Work with the manufacturing integrator to ensure transfers, physical layout, takt time, and other factors are compatible between individual pieces of equipment and the rest of the manufacturing line. Determine maintenance logistics and scheduling for equipment and limitations on campaign length and takt time. Summarize and communicate plans and results with the rest of the team on a regular basis, adhering to an established project management and reporting structure. Maintain and support a positive, collaborative, work environment. The successful candidate will also be expected to provide support to other initiatives and/or other internal operations of the company, as needed. Of course, the company may ask the employee to take on different responsibilities and job requirements as the company evolves. REQUIREMENTS B.S., M.S., or Ph.D. degree in Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Materials Science, or related field technical field. Some programming experience preferred (Python, production simulation software, etc.) Highly organized and great communicator Big picture thinking and willingness to take on diverse set of tasks in start-up environment Experience working in a high-tech manufacturing environment is a plus. Experience or familiarity with architectural glass manufacturing, solar manufacturing or solar technology is a plus. Excellent written and oral communication skills, including fluency in Excel, PowerPoint, and Word. Excellent project and time management skills with ability to execute multiple parallel projects and juggle competing priorities under pressure. Team player comfortable performing at a high level as an individual contributor. US citizen or permanent resident.
