Reliability Engineer
OVERVIEW Ubiquitous Energy seeks a skilled and experienced Reliability Engineer to assist in the company's photovoltaic device development efforts. We are looking for an individual who has experience in reliability and/or materials engineering in the field of optoelectronic devices, semiconductors or display technologies. The candidate should have hands-on experience with fabrication, failure analysis and reliability engineering of photovoltaic devices. The candidate will manage our module construction laboratory, supervise daily product builds and expand the reliability testing program at Ubiquitous Energy. The chosen candidate should also be prepared to take on many roles within a fast-paced, start-up environment that is quickly evolving. The ideal candidate is an excellent oral and written communicator, highly collaborative, and comfortable working as an individual contributor in a growing team. The Reliability Engineer will report to the Director of Reliability Engineering.

    RESPONSIBILITIES
    • Manage the daily operations of our module construction laboratory
    • Coordinate and supervise product builds for reliability testing, company demonstrations and certification programs
    • Become an expert in UE coating technology and module construction
    • Work with product development engineers to design reliability experiments based on new product and process designs
    • Analyze testing data and identify failure modes
    • Develop methods to mitigate product degradation and work in collaboration with other engineers to implement design changes
    • Develop new testing schemes and equipment to conduct accelerated aging tests
    • Use numerical analysis to analyze large amounts of data and prepare reports and presentations to effectively communicate results
    • Examine and stay up to date on the relevant certification and compliance standards
    • Organize compliance and certification programs by preparing timetables, cost estimates, and required resources and drive to completion
    • Perform background reading and literature reviews to gain expertise on solar module durability and encapsulation
    • Meticulously record and track relevant observations and essential information about experimental procedures, test methods, and results
    • Hands on assembly of prototype designs for proof of concept when necessary
    • Work with test engineers to develop new methods for reliability testing
    • Regularly report on project progress to enable accurate scheduling
    • Support a positive, collaborative, work environment
    • The successful candidate will also be expected to provide support to other initiatives and/or other internal operations of the company, as needed
    • Of course, the company may ask the employee to take on different responsibilities and job requirements as the company evolves
      REQUIREMENTS
      • Education: B.S. in Engineering or related discipline; M.S. or PhD in related field preferred
      • 2+ years industrial engineering experience, preferably in semiconductor, solar or display.
      • Experience with vacuum deposited OLED or OPV is a plus, but not required.
      • Experience with encapsulation procedures is a plus
      • Excellent attention to detail and troubleshooting skills
      • Experience performing environmental reliability testing including light soaking, humidity/heat and thermal cycling tests.
      • Statistical analysis such as Weibull++, JMP, accelerated test modeling
      • Knowledge of thin film characterization techniques (optical microscopy, SEM. AFM, X-ray analysis, etc---)
      • Familiarity of relevant testing protocols and certification programs (IEC, UL, ASTM) preferred
      • Exceptional analytical skills and attention to detail
      • Ability to lift glass pieces and fixtures weighing up to 10 lbs
      • Excellent oral and email communication skills, including excellent reporting
      • Team player who works well as an individual contributor alongside other technicians and engineers
      • US citizen or permanent resident
