and Transmission Line Interconnection Engineering is involved in
all customer interconnection request on our transmission system.
The department is involved in the studies and execution of the work
needed to get our customers connected to the grid. Position Summary
Oversees teams of Engineers. Manages all the interconnection
studies and projects throughout the service territory. Partners
with clients and Asset Strategy to identify projects and generate
the scope of work. Oversees the design engineering groups who
prepare design engineering instructions to install equipment.
PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good
faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the
job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of
the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on
multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills,
education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value,
geographic location, and internal equity. Although we estimate the
successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards
the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made
on a case-by-case basis related to these factors. A reasonable
salary range is: Minimum Base Salary (Bay Area) $155,000.00 Mid
Base Salary (Bay Area) $210,000.00 Maximum Base Salary (Bay Area)
$265,000.00 Job Responsibilities • Typically assigned to projects
within a major functional area of Electric Operations. Manage teams
to deliver quality on-time design products for electric substation
and transmission line projects. Leads a team of primarily Project
Engineers in the successful execution of electric engineering
projects and studies for our customers. • Develops, tracks and
communicates key performance indicators such as design cycle time,
schedule and cost performance, and quality attainment. Manages
cost, safety, quality, schedule, scope & client/customer
satisfaction. • May manage substation and transmission line
construction drawing assets and support the engineering standards
group in both updating existing and developing new standards. • May
participate in reviewing design technology improvements, and
continually develop the design phase of projects. • Collaborates
with other departments to ensure clients’ needs are met and to
shape improvement goals for the group the incumbent manages. May
support planning, asset strategy, project engineering, system
protection, and construction through the project cycle. • Works
with peers and leaders across Electric Operations to promote
teamwork, streamline processes and improve efficiency. May presents
to leaders & stakeholders on project scope, schedule, cost and risk
management information. Develops and delivers recommendations to
improve processes, schedules and/or cost performance of projects. •
May manage both the capital project portfolio for an assigned
functional area and develop and implement industry-leading project
control policies, practices and procedures to ensure high-level
quality and transparency in communications. • Continuously strives
to move the department toward a more mature management model and
leads the development of tools and processes to continuously
improve performance, reduce duplication of effort, and improve work
quality • May participate as a member of the Incident Command
structure during times of significant events, such as storms,
earthquakes, etc. • Manages staff to accomplish results through
effective recruitment and selection, training and development,
performance management and coaching, and rewards and recognition. •
May develop and manage department budget regularly monitoring
expenses against forecast, providing explanation or justification
for budget items and/or variances. • Supports labor relations
efforts. • 5-15 direct reports including Supervisors, Project
Managers, Project Management Analysts, Project Control Analysts,
Project Management Coordinators or Assistants, Contractors,
Engineers. 100 indirect reports including Engineers, Designers,
Drafters and support personnel. May manage both union and non-union
employees. Qualifications Minimum: • A Bachelor's Degree in
Engineering, Business, Finance or equivalent combination of
education, experience, and training • 8 years of total related
experience in project management with a minimum of 5 years project
management with electric utility projects. • 4 years supervisory
experience in a technical field Desired: • Leadership experience •
PE-Professional Engineer license • PMI-Project Management Institute
PMP-Project Management Professional certification • Strong
leadership, coaching and mentoring skills. Ability to build
effective teams. • Excellent communication and presentation skills,
both verbal and written • Customer service orientation. •
Collaboration, interpersonal skills. • Understanding of Utility
financial, budget and contracting policies and procedures • Strong
leadership skills with a proven record of leading by example to
accomplish business results • Financial and business acumen. • Good
analytical and strategic decision-making ability. • Knowledge of
Engineers and Scientists of California (ESC) Union Contract. •
Knowledge and experience in process improvement to increase
business effectiveness. • Knowledge of project management vendor
contracts. • Skilled in negotiating and managing contracts for
engineering, procurement and construction services
