Our client, a biotechnology company in Redwood City, is looking for an Interim Revenue Manager to support their team. They are very mission-driven with a laser focus on beating cancer and are doing incredibly well as a company; their stock has grown over 5x in value since their IPO and are planning to nearly double their headcount by EOY. This role will report into their Director of Revenue.Responsibilities* Evaluate customer contracts to ensure that revenue is recognized accurately in accordance with accounting rules* Be actively involved in the design and implementation of new revenue accounting requirements under ASC606* Review whitepaper or accounting memos to support Company's position or policy election on certain revenue recognition issues* Act as key technical accounting resource for the company by researching, resolving and documenting accounting issues that arise during contracts review and new product introduction* Manage month-end and quarter-end revenue close, including reconciliations and related fluctuation analysis and other reporting requirements* Collaborate with Sales, Legal, and Business Development teams to review and evaluate the impact of draft contracts for revenue recognition* Provide technical accounting guidance in negotiating and structuring deals to provide operational efficiency and optimum revenue yield* Work with the FP&A team to provide revenue assurance in the pricing models, new product introductions, weekly forecasting of revenues including complex CDx deals and others* Review data and other support information requests as needed for audits and reviews conducted by external auditors and managed the audit of revenue and accounts receivable* Manage the process of maintaining and updating the Company Revenue Accounting Policy and Credit and Collections Policy* Manage month-end and quarter-end accounts receivable close, including reconciliations and related fluctuation analysis and other reporting requirements* Review the collections, cash application and invoicing issues * Manage system-related projects in Oracle for revenue and accounts receivable accounts as well as other relevant systems* Participate in developing and maintaining strong internal controls, ensuring quality controls over revenue transactions and reporting.Requirements* Bachelor's degree in Accounting, CPA highly preferred (or otherwise comparable industry experience)* 8+ years' relevant experience* * 2+ years of relevant revenue recognition experience, with an in-depth knowledge of ASC 606* Relevant industry experience (pharma or biotech) is required* Big 4 accounting and CPA is highly preferred - otherwise highly relevant industry expertise* In-depth knowledge and hands on experience working with GAAP multi-element revenue recognition accounting standards including ASC 605-25, SAB 104, ASU 2009-13 and ASU 2009-14* Oracle experience highly preferred, otherwise strong experience with other Tier 1 ERPs* Strong excel proficiency* A solutions-oriented team player who enjoys a dynamic work environment* Ability to communicate complex information in a clear and concise manner* Ability to effectively work with all levels and cross-functionally within the company, including Sales, Legal, and Business Development* Strong organizational skills and ability to meet tight deadlines* Strong interpersonal skills* Strong analytical skills, with a sharp focus on details
