The Senior Manager, R&D Sourcing is part of a global Strategic Sourcing & Procurement team that collaborates with global category leaders, site procurement and business partners on category strategy development, strategic sourcing, and contracting activities. Key responsibilities include leading and driving execution of high value/high complexity sourcing events and contracts, identifying supply optimization opportunities for speed-to-market, development of robust category and/or site-specific analytics to support strategy development and decision-making. Major Responsibilities and Accountabilities Strategic Sourcing Provide End-to-End project management for complex sourcing events. Lead the gathering and formalization of key business requirements. Prepare and solicit competitive bids, quotations, and proposals. Coordinate and organize supplier responses and address supplier inquiries. Evaluate competitive offerings and assess supplier product & pricing information. Partner with category leads, site procurement and business unit representatives to award business. Contracting Lead the negotiation and execution of contracts in close partnership with legal and other key business functions to meet R&D category and site needs in a fast-paced, highly regulated environment. - Gathering contract requirements and understanding the scientific business need. Demonstrating strong command of contract legal terms and clauses. Selecting appropriate contract templates in collaboration with contract legal support. Independently leading legal and business term negotiations, escalating when necessary. Maintaining full compliance with BMS contracting policies and procedures. Ensuring the timely review, approval, signature, and archival of finalized agreements. Identifying and implementing process efficiencies and lessons learned to accelerate contracting. Category Strategy Development & Supplier Relationship Management Partner with global category leaders, site procurement and business partners on plan development through evaluation of buying channels and influence development of category plans by bringing insights from internal analytics and external market intelligence Understand and develop procurement financing and leveraging strategies (e.g., lease vs. buy) Support the review of supplier innovations and demonstrations in partnership with the Business Partnering and Strategy group for select suppliers For escalated issues with respect to quality, performance or supply, support Business Partnering & Strategy with the analytics required to solve root cause issues; collaborate with site / local procurement on solutions. Own and drive mitigation projects on a prioritized basis Support implementing and managing the small business and disadvantaged suppliers search and program development Management & Organizational Activities Participate in project review meetings with global category leaders, site procurement and operations teams to gather new projects and prioritize efforts in alignment with key business needs Champion Sourcing Excellence functional development efforts such as process improvement, continuous innovation, and capabilities development Qualifications Bachelor's Degree (Business, Science or Engineering is desirable), Master's Degree in related field preferred Minimum of 5 - 7 years' work experience with at least 3 - 5 years procurement or relevant experience. (Preferred category experience includes: Clinical Research Services, use of Real-World Data, Value Access and Pricing). Expertise in procurement processes, technology and systems (such as Ariba), contract and supplier analysis and management, financial analysis, market analysis, supplier diversity, strategic planning and integrated supply chain.
