Community Relations Manager Position!

POSITION SUMMARY
This position is responsible for the management, development and
execution of business development and Financial Education plans,
programs, projects and promotions including research, planning and
execution, with the goal of increasing awareness of SMCU and
increasing credit union membership. Supervises the Community
Relations department.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Manages business development and community giving efforts including
standards and oversight to develop and execute successful events,
promotions, and measure results. Provides feedback to participants
to elevate results.
Work with Branch Managers to leverage relationships in the
community and expand market visibility by creating standardized
expectations of staff engagement for event participation.
Analyzes trends and behaviors of both current SEGs and the
organization's consumer market; evaluate the credit union's
strengths and weaknesses relative to key competitors and develop
action plans to drive organizational goals.
Creates reporting matrix to measure standards and effectiveness of
business development efforts.
Recruits and develops SEGs through the assessment of the market
potential around each branch location, involving branch managers
and their staff with their local member companies
Oversees the Financial Education programs offered by the credit
union
Coordinates and organizes efforts to represent SMCU favorably in
the community, building SMCU's reputation, image and brand in our
communities, representing SMCU in our communities, and monitoring
and reporting results. Plans programs that promote good will and
fosters relationships with community leaders. Establishing high
standards of excellence, honesty, integrity and professionalism in
community relations.
Engages staff and works with community outreach programs, serving
as liaison between management, staff and volunteers for the
accomplishment of specific community-oriented programs.
Identify and suggest effective community relations programs and
events, including sponsorship opportunities through local chambers
of commerce. Coordinate high profile community events such as the
Arts & Wine Festival, including staffing, promotion and expenses
for these events.
Creates program to engage and works with management to train
front-line and back-office staff on effective business development
methods.
Leads credit union vision for business development throughout the
organization. Including engaging staff in active participation in
events.
Manages department budget.
Supervises the Community Relations staff. Sets direction and focus,
goals, training, scheduling, assigning projects and tasks, and
performance evaluations.
Provides service that aligns with the Credit Union's mission of
passionately delivering relevant products, services, and education
tailored to help our members, employees, and communities achieve
their financial goals.
Must comply with applicable laws and regulations, including but not
limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, and the Office
of Foreign Assets Control.

Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree is preferred.
Minimum of five years' experience in marketing, business
development and/or account management. Minimum two years'
experience in financial-services or outside sales is preferred.
Effective leadership skills, including the ability to coach,
motivate and develop staff.
Proven track record of effective coordination of prospecting,
building and maintaining client relationships, tracking activities,
maintaining a contact database and related market research.
Strong time management, presentation, and organizational
skills.
Must have advanced technology skills and the ability to function
proficiently with multiple applications.
Ability to interface with all levels of staff within the
organization.
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint Excel)
and Act! CRM is a plus.
Ability to adapt and be flexible with schedule including early
evenings and weekends when needed.
