Job Description:
ThinkCyte Inc was the first to commercialize a true high
content, high throughput, flow cytometry-based cell analysis
platform that has found application in the areas of biologics,
small molecule discovery, immunotherapy as well as other high
profile research areas from tumor biology to stem cells. The
Director of Business Development will be a member of the ThinkCyte
senior team. The expectations of this position include routine
prospecting/networking, contributions to market messaging, value
proposition definition, developing proposals, negotiating
agreements and licenses. This position is primarily focused on
business development within the small to mid-size biotechnology
segments with some responsibility for a specific set of large cap
pharmaceutical companies as well as government
agencies.RESPONSIBILITIES
- Project Management: Coordinate the review and discussion of BD
projects. Manage meeting agendas, material submissions, meeting
dates, and meeting minutes. Keep the BD activities updated and
forecast the impact of deals on corporate earnings.
- Prepare, issue and negotiate confidentiality agreements,
proposals, service agreements and licenses to meet business
development goals.
- Maintains close communications with prospective customers to
ensure knowledge of platform and offering is current in an effort
to maximize potential opportunities.
- Develops, as part of team, improved business processes to
increase effectiveness and efficiency of business development
efforts
- Communications: Prepare and maintain presentations that are
used for major business conferences, internal leadership meetings,
and partner-specific capabilities presentations. Oversee the
preparation and distribution of project reports to various internal
audiences.
- Goal Tracking: With the senior team, develop the annual goals
and track the progress towards achievement of these through the
year.
- Support for VP, BD: Provide support in coordination of monthly
senior staff meeting agendas, quarterly all hands meeting, annual
global meeting. Provide support in preparation of various
presentations and group and company-wide communications.
- Develop key customer target lists and implement marketing and
selling efforts focused on those customer targets.
- In partnership with the marketing function, develop and
maintain key market messages to the various targeted segments,
contribute to development of marketing pieces and collateral.
- Develop strategic account plans for each assigned large
pharmaceutical company.
- Analyze, evaluate, plan, and execute both existing and
potential marketing activities and strategies. Develop benchmark
criteria to measure the efficiency and effectiveness of marketing
programs.
- Identify/develop unique value propositions for products in key
customer segments.
- Identify product development opportunities to increase market
share and expand the addressable market.
- Contribute to marketing ommunications efforts including
branding, public relations, advertising, white papers, trade shows,
seminars and events collateral materials, analyst and market
research management, and website design and content.
- Work closely with Sales to develop and manage channel and
partner strategies and programs.
- Work with other executive team members to identify and develop
strategic alliances, communicate with C-level members, and
close/grow major customer accounts.
- Develop and track metrics and success criteria for all business
development and marketing programs and activities.
- Develop and manage relationships with key opinion leaders and
early access partners in target markets.
- Ability to travel up to 50%EXPERIENCE REQUIRED/QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum 8 years business development and or marketing
experience in life science tools/diagnostics industry.
- Experience in cell biology, immunology, tumor biology.
Experience in genomics desired.
- Ability to plan, manage, and implement at both strategic and
operational levels.
- Track record of cultivating key high-level relationships within
the pharma and biotech industry for product positioning, beta trial
feedback, and closing of early-access sales.
- Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and staff to
create a results-driven, team oriented environment.
- Demonstrated ability to manage often outsourced marketing
activities (PR, corporate identity system, website, etc.).
- Strong strategic planning and analysis skills in marketing and
business strategy.
- Effective public speaking skills and presence.
- Experience with cell analysis technologies, flow cytometry
systems preferred.PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES
