Job Description:
Working at the intersection of hardware, software, and molecular
science, Carbon is commercializing a fundamental advance in the
chemistry of 3D printing that enables massive increases in print
speed and improved material properties. We believe our technology
will enable commercial customers to go beyond basic prototyping to
mass production of 3D-printed parts. We are seeking a Senior
Manager, Facilities & EHS, to join our Operations team. This
full-time role is based at Carbon's headquarters in Redwood City,
California. The Senior Manager, Facilities & EHS is the primary
internal customer interface for company facilities operations,
providing financial, site service, maintenance, EHS (Environmental,
Health, and Safety), and project-related support within Carbon's
Redwood City operations and other global facilities. This role
supports service delivery of outsourced facility services and
self-performed facility services. This position is expected to
utilize operational knowledge of facility business functions and
requirements, including EHS, Security, Operations, Engineering, and
other functions and services. This role will work
cross-functionally, reporting to the Director of Operations
Engineering. The leader shall plan, organize, and directs the
facility's technical support and coordination activities for
Carbon's Redwood City operations and other facilities. He/She shall
lead and supervise the facilities technicians and coordination team
to support the organization through services and facility
management functions. Also, shall plan and develop facilities
projects and ensure that projects and jobs are completed
proficiently and within regulatory guidelines and projected
deadlines. Develop long- and short-range maintenance plans and
programs, such as emergency response plans and energy management
plans. This senior role is also responsible for managerial
leadership and implementation of EHS programs, processes, and
policies. Responsibilities
- Responsible for overall management and maintenance of company
sites & facilities.
- Serve as the primary internal customer interface for site
facilities operations;
- Maintain frequent contact with staff in other departments
and/or customer representatives to coordinate activities concerning
operational decisions and business requirements.
- Provide leadership, guidance, and problem-solving skills to
employees within the department and extended organization through
project/process coordination.
- Develop, implement, and maintain EHS programs and management
systems for Carbon sites and in support of Carbon employees working
at customer and supplier sites.
- Develop and implement policies, procedures, and programs to
assure effective facilities support services and maintenance of
facilities equipment.
- Manage facility technician team, maintenance team, and facility
support team to prioritize and resolve facilities issues and
tickets in a timely and effective manner.
- Oversee and set the strategic direction & operational
requirements for the site maintenance program, including response &
repair, preventative maintenance planning & scheduling, and
management of third-party contractors and vendors.
- Oversee and ensure proper environmental services for chemical,
biological, and other types of waste management.
- Oversee services provided by third-party contractors (security,
specialty contractors, janitorial, landscaping, pest control, snow
removal, roads, waste removal, etc.)
- Manage the procurement of equipment and contractor & vendor
services.
- Manage the site maintenance/facilities management budget and
forecasts, analyze variances for services performed by the in-house
maintenance team and third-party providers, and approve
maintenance/facilities management invoices and accruals.
- Serve as the primary customer and leader of site engineering
for capital infrastructure projects; Lead the development of the
site facility and maintenance expense and capital investment plans,
including repair versus replace decisions.
- Manage facility and lab support services, including material
and supply ordering ; stocking, inspections & calibration, and
related management functions.
- Identify/develop EHS resource strategies and when required,
recommend, coordinate, and supervise EHS consultants and
contractors hired to perform EHS services such as industrial
hygiene testing, fit testing, ventilation systems design/testing,
sample collection, new chemical approvals, process safety
assessments, LOTO, and IIPP;
- Ensure that consultants follow regulatory and company
requirements. Analyze and interpret data and reports and make
recommendations to the business.
- Define, develop/facilitate, conduct and/or advise on training
requirements, materials, and systems, to ensure employees have the
knowledge and skills necessary to work safely, in accordance with
company policies and regulatory requirements.
- Serve as a site owner for site emergency response planning and
site shutdowns.
- Provide technical, financial, and operational support to other
company sites to sustain business operations.
- Train team on effective execution, building capability, and
ownership of systems; ensure team understands maintenance
requirements, activities, and desired outcomes; provide on the job
coaching and direction.Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a scientific or business-related
discipline, and 8 years of experience working within a facilities
organization; an equivalent combination of education and experience
may be considered.
- Demonstrated communication skills, strong leadership skills,
ability to delegate tasks as needed, sound business ethics, and
ability to collaborate in a team environment.
- Demonstrate an understanding of the organizational structure,
operating culture, effective work styles, and achieving results in
an innovative, dynamic, and fast-paced environment.
- Working knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations.
Experience with hazardous waste and chemical classifications and
associated controls (control areas) used to manage total on-hand
quantities.
- Ability to communicate with regulatory agencies and interface
with agency inspectors.
- Familiarity with lab safety and best practices
- Demonstrated ability to manage high-volume, multi-site
responsibilities; Broad technical knowledge of facility operations,
infrastructure, engineering, and systems.
- Understanding of financial systems; ability to manage budgets
and expense tracking.
- Proficiency with MS Office Suite
- Must have a solid work ethic and impeccable integrity. Ability
to work independently with minimal direction or oversight work and
handle multiple tasks with the ability to realign priorities as
needed. Able to exercise excellent judgment and possess a keen
attention to detail.
- Ability to reinforce and improve the safety culture by working
in collaboration with operational leaders and front-line employees.
Must be successful in working in a team-oriented environment and be
able to work effectively in a matrix organization.
- Preferred: Strong technical and regulatory expertise in
environmental, health and safety regulatory requirements as well as
knowledge of and/or implementation experience with applicable
industry standards and EHS regulations, including OSHA, Cal/OSHA,
RCRA, DOT/IATA, and ADA. $159,000 - $239,000 a year At Carbon, we
look at the person holistically and carefully consider a wide range
of factors when determining compensation. The pay range for this
position is $159,000 - $239,000. Your actual salary will be based
on your experience, work location, certifications and the unique
skills you bring to the role. If you are not based in our Redwood
City office, the range above will be adjusted for the geographical
differential associated with your actual work location. Carbon also
