This is a Stanford Health Care job.A Brief OverviewThe Surgical Technician II demonstrates behaviors in concert with Stanford Health Care Mission, Values, Policies and Procedures. S/he acts as a member of the surgical team providing patient care to the patients undergoing surgical procedures. S/he prepares the appropriate instrumentation and materials for use during and on the surgical field, passing instruments. S/he assists with standard work and room turnover. This position performs other scrub duties as directed, under supervision.LocationsStanford Health CareWhat you will doFunctions independently in majority of services with minimal assistance. Capable of performing common emergency cases proficientlySolves problems rapidly with changes in the clinical situationAnticipates availability of equipment and prioritizes usageCompletes at least one improvement project per evaluation yearSets up equipment independentlyDemonstrates critical thinking capabilitiesKeep ongoing log/portfolio of achievement/verification delivered annually during evaluation.Demonstrates advanced knowledge and proficient practice in the first scrub role in the majority of surgical procedures as defined by SHC.Applies knowledge related to emergency situation and surgical procedures in the operating roomAdditionally, the CST II will meet, at minimum, 2 of the following 4 Supplementary Responsibilities:Supplementary CST II level ResponsibilitiesActs as a preceptorServes as a contributing member on one unit based committee or taskforceIn conjunction with other team members, provides one (1) in-service per year in a related specialty serviceAssists with orientation of new employees, students, and staffEducation QualificationsOther Completion of an accredited program recognized by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting or formal structure surgical program, (e.g., military services)Experience QualificationsTwo (2) years of progressively responsible and directly related work experience.Required Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesAbility to apply judgment and make informed decisionsAbility to work independentlyAbility to foster effective working relationships and build consensusAbility to solve problems and identify solutionsAbility to speak/write effectively at a level appropriate for the jobKnowledge and theoretical understanding of normal/abnormal anatomy/physiologyKnowledge and understanding of surgical procedures to anticipate needs/request from surgeons.
