Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)/Operating Room Assistant (OSA)

Job Description:

The CNA/OSA, under supervision of an RN, assumes responsibility and accountability for assignments & assisting other nursing staff in providing patient care according to established methods/policies/standards. The CNA/OSA will rotate between the Operating Room and Pre-op/PACU departments.

Job Responsibilities

• Direct patient care under the supervision of a RN (vital signs, weight, assist with ambulation, pre-op skin preps, etc)
• Assist OR RNs with positioning patients
• Assist with turning over pre-op/recovery bays between patients
• Assist with turning over operating and procedure rooms between patients and cases
• Responsible for stocking and ordering supplies/equipment for assigned department
• Distribute clean linen and gowns to appropriate areas
• Be familiar with the location of equipment and supplies
• Performs general delivery service and runs errands as needed
• Checks/empties sharps containers for assigned areas
• Routine cleaning of patient care areas
  
  Education Requirements
  
  
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • CNA Certification
  • Current AHA BLS Certification
    
    Qualifications and Skills
    
    
    • ASC experience preferred
    • Patient care technician or nurse's aid experience preferred
    • Operating Room experience preferred
    • Familiarity with surgical equipment preferred
    • Ability to sit/stand for long periods; ability to lift 25-40 lbs.
    • Strong ethical and moral character references
    • Ability to communicate effectively and promote favorable facility image with physicians, patients, and general public
    • Ability to be punctual, make decisions, and solve problems
