Redwood Grill is looking for a resourceful Assistant General Manager (AGM) who is ready to roll up their sleeves and join a talented team in a growing restaurant business. Reporting to the VP of Operations, the AGM will play a key role is supporting the day-to-day operations of the restaurant. It is not intended to be all-inclusive.JOB SUMMARYThe Assistant General Manager is responsible for overall operations of the restaurant, primarily in the front of the house, under the direction of the VP of Operations. They will provide leadership and financial management in the restaurant and provide administrative, analytical, and "hands-on' support to the FOH and BOH teams. This position will collaborate with internal and external partners to accomplish all tasks related to the restaurant operation. The AGM will oversee and contribute to the planning, organization, and training necessary to achieve restaurant objectives in sales, costs, employee retention, guest service and satisfaction, food quality, and compliance. PRIMARY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIESOperations/FinanceHelps the VP of Operations and Owner maximize profitability by developing and implementing creative sales-building strategies for the restaurant Ensures the restaurant meets or exceed Operational and Quality Standards at all timesMaintains and enforces compliance with all restaurant policies and proceduresResponds immediately to all customer issues to ensure guest satisfaction has been achievedUnderstands and drives the brand and culture of the restaurant Identifies opportunities for partnerships with local organizations and passes along to OwnerEncourages a positive work environment to assist in growing a culture of growth, love, kindness, and hospitalityActs as onsite manager to provide coverage when necessarySupport efforts in staffing, training and retentionWorks collaboratively with the VP of Operations and Owner to create and maintain plans for developing internal candidates for promotion and professional developmentAids staff in identifying potential problems and develop solutionsEnsures that cash audits, End of Day Process, and deposits happen nightlySupervision/People DevelopmentProvides supervision to the staff in accordance with Redwood Grill's policies and applicable lawsPlans, assigns, and directs work; appraises performance; rewards and disciplines employees; Workswith the VP of Operations and Owner to identify and develop one future leader each quarter by cross-training into a new and/or leadership capacity. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES REQUIRED4+ years' leadership or supervisory experience in the restaurant or hospitality industryDemonstrated success in financial management and people developmentBasic knowledge of OSHA, restaurant/food safety procedures and federal and state employment lawsComputer and Point of Sale (POS) skills with a proficiency in Word, Excel, and the ability to navigate through the Internet and various software platforms used by the companyAbility to successfully perform all job duties of all positions in the restaurantAbility to work a minimum of 55 hours a week if requiredFood Safety Manager certification required for further promotionStrong organizational skills with excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to communicate with all levels of the organizationAbility to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, in the English languagePlaces a value on diversity, community, and shows respect for othersProven ability to problem solve and handle high stress situationsMust be prepared to multitask in accordance with the demands of the businessAbility to identify and anticipate opportunities and implement corrective action stepsAbility to work weekends, holidays, and eveningsKNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION PREFERRED Bachelor's degree with major concentration in food preparation, management, nutrition or related field. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS English reading and writing skills Excellent interpersonal relations and communicative skills Perform basic math and understand finances and cost management Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends and holidays Understand and respond to staff and customer requests in a loud environment Ability to follow written and oral instructions and procedures Move throughout the restaurant for extended periods of time (up to 10-12 hours per day, 5 days per week); Continuousphysical activity including walking, standing, twisting, sitting, bending, lifting, reaching, kneeling, stooping, crawling, wiping, climbing, pushing and pulling items weighing 30 pounds for distances of up to 20 ft. Ability to perform moderately strenuous physical work and withstand temperatures of 0 degrees Fahrenheit or less and 100 degrees Fahrenheit or more Be able to adeptly use a computer and other restaurant equipment. Auditory and visual skills - Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. A valid CA driver's license and insurable under the company's insurance policy.
