We are looking for a Compensation Program Manager to lead the
development and implementation of compensation strategies, programs
and projects in support of a complex, decentralized organization to
attract and retain a diverse, non-academic employee population.
This role reports to the Sr. Director of Compensation in University
Human Resources and is a member of a team of compensation
professionals.
Job Purpose:
Responsible for developing, implementing and monitoring
compensation programs and providing consultative advice to HR
business partners and managers university-wide.
In this position you will:
- Lead projects related to compensation policy, program
development and administration, including development of project
approach, detailed project plan and timeline, identifying issues,
and recommending solutions.
- Collaborate with University HR compensation team, sponsoring
client teams, and HR business partners to identify issues and
recommend solutions throughout project and program
implementation.
- Develop partnerships with key stakeholders, and anticipate and
resolve stakeholder resistance and other risks in order to bring
others along to a desired outcome.
- Develop and/or partner with HR communications team to develop
communication deliverables including training materials,
presentations and written communications to stakeholder
audiences.
- Review existing job descriptions, develop descriptions as
needed, and apply job evaluation techniques to determine the
appropriate job classification and exemption status. Provide
comprehensive recommendations to HR business partners and managers
on classifications. -
- Based on market competitive analyses performed and compensation
expertise, recommend strategies for addressing competitive pay
challenges as well as advise on individual pay decisions.
- Provide consultation and expert advice to HR business partners
and managers in the administration of the university's compensation
program on a consistent, equitable, and legally compliant basis
university-wide.To be successful in this position, you will bring:
- Bachelor's degree and five years of relevant experience, or a
combination of education and relevant experience
- Experience in a large, complex organization with a
decentralized structure preferred
- Strong project management and change management experience,
preferably in a decentralized organization
- Knowledge and demonstrated experience as compensation
consultant or advisor to leaders and managers
- Excellent facilitation and presentation skills
- Proven communication (verbal and written) skills to prepare
clear and concise information and deliver formal presentations or
training to senior management and other audiences
- Strong relationship building skills
- Experience with salary survey participation, market analysis,
job evaluation, and compensation plan design and
administration
- Demonstrated knowledge of compensation practices and trends
with expertise in job evaluation market analysis
- Strong understanding and experience in applying federal and
California state and federal wage and hour regulations
- Advanced analytical, critical thinking, problem solving,
judgment and decision-making competencies
- Demonstrated advanced influencing skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality, tact, and diplomacy
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, specifically, Word and
Excel, and project management principals and toolsDesired
Qualifications:
- Compensation Certification (CCP, GRP, CEBS, or Compensation
Management Specialist)
- Master's Degree in HR, Finance or MBA -
- Experience leading the design and implementation of incentive
pay programs
- Experience leading implementation of a cloud-based compensation
module as part of an HRIS system implementation
- Experience designing and implementing total rewards strategies
(including compensation and benefits programs).Physical

- Frequently sit, stand, perform desk-based computer tasks, grasp
lightly/fine manipulation
- Occasionally work at Stanford main campusWe are open to a
hybrid work arrangement (a combination of onsite and work from
home). The number of days may occasionally fluctuate subject to
business need, but the expectation is that this position will be
onsite a minimum of 2 days/week. The onsite work location is
Stanford Redwood City Campus, 505 Broadway, Redwood City,
