As Codexis expands its footprint we are in constant need to find new ways to diversify applications of our CodeEvolverTM protein engineering platform.  To help us meet this goal we are looking to hire a Cell Bank Research Associate to join our Internal Manufacturing Team

As part of this collaborative team you will be delivering high quality Cell banks to support internal and external productions.

In this role you will be responsible for:

  • Preparing Master Cell Banks and Working Cell Banks in compliancy with Codexis Quality System.
  • Performing testing to characterize cell banks per standard operating procedures (SOPs) and Batch Production Records (BPRs).  
  • Maintaining cell banking inventory and perform vial transfers for shipment and production.
  • Producing and maintaining accurate records in paper and electronic notebooks
  • Writing as required Deviations (DVTs), Change Control Request (CCRs) and Laboratory Investigation reports (LIRs).
  • Drafting and revising as required SOPs and BPRs.
  • Maintaining lab supplies and equipment specific to Cell Bank activities .


To be successful in this role, your background and experience should include:

  • Bachelor's degree in biology, chemistry, or other related degree concentration, or equivalent directly related experience. May consider another degree discipline with relevant experience; cGMP experience is desirable.
  • Hands-on experience in microbiology testing (purity, viability, growth test) and PCR method.
  • Must be detail oriented, accurate, and have excellent organizational and record keeping skills.
  • Create a positive work environment through interactions with team members.
  • Knowledge of safety, quality systems, and quality assurance concepts is required.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment without sacrificing accuracy and quality of work.
