By unlocking the information present in microbial cell-free DNA, we're helping doctors quickly solve their most challenging cases, providing industry partners with access to 1000's of biomarkers to accelerate clinical trials, discovering new microbes, and reducing patient suffering worldwide.Position SummaryThis role offers the opportunity to own Karius UX Design across all platforms with a goal of creating an engaging, user-friendly, and effective experience for clinicians, patients, and internal Karius team members. This person will collaborate with Product Management, Marketing, Engineering and many other teams at Karius in order to help create and deliver a strong UX system spanning all platforms, and will also be a critical part of the team that performs user experience research. You, as part of the Karius team, will be able to see how directly your work has a life-changing impact on people, and at scale.Primary Responsibilities Work cross functionally with Product Management, Engineering, Marketing, and other teams at Karius to design responsive digital products for web, tablets, mobile devices, and printed documents. Own UX for the order to report flow, customer engagement, hospital integrations, internal operations, R tools, and additional emerging opportunities. Produce low and high-fidelity wireframes/mocks for internal stakeholders and engineering teams. Create user journey maps and develop user personas. Evaluate and improve Karius's digital experiences from a usability and business goals perspective. Create prototypes for user testing. Research, understand, and communicate customer insights in order to inform design decisions. Develop UX competitor analysis. Be a representative of the customer voice for both Karius patients and clinicians. Follow the regulatory environment that Karius operates in which can vary on a state-to-state (or even county-to-county) basis and ensure that all systems meet or exceed these requirements.Travel: Travel required up to 5%.Physical Requirements:Subject to extended periods of sitting and/or standing, vision to monitor and moderate noise levels. Work is generally performed in an office environment.Position Requirements: Bachelor's degree in HCI, Human Factors, Fine Arts, Behavioral Science or equivalent required. Minimum of 5 years of experience across UX / UI design, interaction design, or visual design for digital products. Experience with user research, usability testing, user journey mapping, developing personas, wireframing and prototyping, sketching, and other UX design methods. Experience with design tools such as Sketch, Illustrator, and/or Figma, and prototyping tools such as InVision. Ability to translate both qualitative and quantitative user research into actionable insights and communicate recommendations and design decisions to stakeholders. Experience working with product management as well as directly with engineering on digital products greatly preferred. Ability to work cross-functionally with a variety of teams and departments. Healthcare experience preferred.Personal Qualifications: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced startup environment and prioritize effectively. Strong, confident presentation and communication skills. Must have strong initiative and be a self-motivator. Detail oriented with excellent organizational and self-management skills. Ability to perform multiple tasks, proactively plan, adhere to timelines, and have a creative approach to problem solving.
