To help us reach our goals we are looking to hire a Research Associate/Associate Scientist to join our Molecular and Cellular Engineering team.

In this role you will be responsible for:

  • Design and construction of gene libraries and expression vectors in multiple expression hosts.
  • Cloning of genes and genetic pathways.
  • Characterization of gene variants.
  • Analysis and interpretation of DNA sequencing data. Analysis and interpretation of sequence-function relationship, interpretation of contribution of mutations to desired properties of gene variants.
  • Performing and troubleshooting experiments involving use of PCR, cloning, transformation, and recombinant gene expression in HTP format.
  • Training, support, and, if required, supervision of junior team members.
  • Working independently and with project teams to provide support and assistance to all phases of directed evolution projects
  • Maintaining a safe and efficient work place, follow safe lab practices and organize lab environment.

To be successful in this role, your background and experience should include:

  • MSc in Molecular Biology or related field with 4+ years of experience in industry, BSc in Molecular Biology or related field with 8+ years of industry experience.
  • Designing and generating constructs for protein expression in multiple expression hosts.
  • Broad understanding of directed evolution.
  • DNA manipulation, library design and generation, protein expression in multiple expression hosts. Experience with Bacillus sp. or Pichia as expression hosts preferred.
  • Ability to develop, validate and troubleshoot protocols.
  • Ability to prioritize responsibilities and multi-task.
  • Ability to think critically, work both independently and within cross-disciplinary project teams.
  • Motivated and able to work under tight timelines, flexible, able to work and communicate well within project teams.
  • Excellent communications skills, both oral and written, presentation skills and interpersonal skills.
