Since its launch in 2014, Guardant360 has been used by more than 6,000 oncologists, over 50 biopharmaceutical companies and all 27 of the National Comprehensive Cancer Network centers.Job DescriptionThis role works out of our Headquarters in Redwood City, CA.Due to the Covid 19 Pandemic Guardant Health has temporarily classified this role as partial working from home status, meaning as duties apply this role the person will be expected onsite a few days a week.We will fully return onsite at HQ when it is determined safe to do so.Are you a scientist or engineer with a proven track record of automation and scaling. Are you eager to take part in the development of high growth, a fast-paced company?Do you have an interdisciplinary background in molecular biology, lab automation, and programming? Experience with design, development, testing, implementing, and supporting automated sample-processing workflows?Do you have a background in a requirements-driven approach (withing a clinical laboratory/molecular biology-based laboratory?The ideal candidate will be able to:Apply scientific methods and engineering skills in efforts for scalability sample processing workflows.Collaborate or lead cross-functional teams working in a variety of projects to explore, develop, optimize, test, and put in place scalable solutions for sample processing workflows.Demonstrate a solid understanding of business and user requirements and improving efficiency, throughput, and quality of processes.Contribute to protocol generation, report writing, and presentation preparation.Operate, program, and troubleshoot liquid handling robotics platforms for whole blood separation - preferably on a Hamilton platform.Integrate automated methods with sample tracking and data management software (is a plus)QualificationsBS degree in engineering or science, with 1-3 years of related experience. MS with 1+ years of related work experience will also be considered. Preferred degrees; Molecular Biology, Genetics or Biochemistry, Bioengineering or, Chemical Engineering or a closely related discipline.Experience streamlining workflows, developing automated laboratory processes, and instrumentation systems, from concept generation. As well as requirements gathering through to process validation and implementation.Hands-on experience with operating and programming liquid handling robotics platformsExperience with Hamilton liquid handlersExperience in automated development of next-generation sequencing (NGS) assays and/or standard molecular biology techniques. (ie: nucleic acid isolation and purification, DNA quantitation, PCR, etc.)Experience working within regulated environments (IVD, LDT, etc.)Strong communication and collaborative skillsAbility to work, internal & external with diverse scientific, engineering, operational, and regulatory disciplines.Experience with statistical data analysis, monitoring data quality, and troubleshooting technical problems.Has NGS or Diagnostic company backgroundAdditional InformationAll your information will be kept confidential according to EEO guidelines.Employee may be required to lift routine office supplies up to 20 lbs and use office equipment. Majority of the work is performed in a desk/office environment; however, there may be exposed to high noise levels, fumes, and biohazard material in the laboratory environment.
