Impossible Foods is seeking a mission-aligned Scientist, to join the Product Innovation Department - an interdisciplinary team of scientists, engineers, designers, and chefs. We are looking for a curious, analytic, collaborative, and creative "can-do" problem solver that enjoys building innovations, and a deep expertise in technology development. You will be leading a technical product team to create new products. We are looking for a technical leader who can problem solve, generate ideas, project manage, and drive novel products forward.

You Will:

* Turn discoveries into innovations. * Create delicious and nutritious plant-based meat products to delight consumers. * Use rigorous sensory and instrumental assays to guide progress. * Outside-the-box exploration: playful exploration and de novo prototyping. * Research and develop new food technologies (flavor, texture, etc.). * Understand ingredients and processes to create new product attributes. * Research and develop new food technologies with experiments at the lab, R&D kitchen, and pilot plant scale. * Proactively collaborate cross-functionally and lead applied research projects. * Mentor research associates and interns as the need arises. * Voice ideas, concerns and solutions to teammates.

You Have:

* M.S./Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Food Science, Chemical Engineering or similar field. * Ph.D. with 1+ years post-degree experience in research and or development. * Proven track record of innovative research and development projects. * A passion to create new products that meet consumer needs. * Strong quantitative skills for design of experiments and data analysis & interpretation. * Experience with designing and conducting sensory testing a plus. * Experience with formulation development is a plus. * Ability to thrive in a diverse, dynamic team. * Excellent interpersonal skills. * Self-starter that is naturally curious and enjoys working in a fast past environment. * Ability to continuously challenge assumptions to seek innovative solutions. * Assay development (a must), DOE, * Material characterization, microscopy with materials, material science * Emulsion drops and understanding physical aspects , structure function relationship * Formulation
