Job Description:

The Market Research and Competitive Intel Senior Manager will support the precision oncology business unit within Exact Sciences and align the market insights and analytics plan with the brand strategic imperatives. They will design market research and analytic projects through the identification of critical business questions and information gaps and implement the appropriate methodology to address those gaps. This role will generate a detailed map of the disease state, market landscape, and market dynamics, and support competitive intelligence for the business. The Market Research and Competitive Intel Senior Manager will work closely with cross-functional partners; including, but not limited to, marketing, commercial operations, pipeline, data strategy, analytics, corporate strategy, medical, and with counterparts in other business units.


  • Utilize existing market research and available data sources to address information and insights related questions made by the customers.
  • Identify gaps proactively in available research and plan, execute, and deliver routine and ad-hoc primary and secondary market research to the commercial teams.
  • Develop and execute the market research plan and strategy to elevate the data analysis capabilities at Exact Sciences; including, but not limited to, prioritization of key business questions, vendor selection, work with vendors to design questionnaires, develop study design, report developments and findings, and insights presentations.
  • Track competitor activity and provide timely assessment to stakeholders in the organization.
  • Develop and continuously improve mechanisms to report and track, both tools and processes, to support effective and accurate market research data collection and analysis.
  • Work closely with business partners to ensure prompt and timely reports of key findings to senior management.
  • Provide high quality and timely insights support for projects, strategic initiatives, business development proposals, and other investments.
  • Track and manage budget.
  • Manage vendors for effective execution of projects.
  • Lead teams, as needed.
  • Support cross-functional cooperation and build strong working relationships across business units and operating teams.
  • Ability to think independently and objectively to properly evaluate, communicate, educate, influence, and gain cooperation to reach consensus, decisions, and action.
  • Ability to be results oriented and take initiative; convey a sense of urgency and drive to closure.

  • Ability to work on a mobile device, tablet, or in front of a computer screen and/or perform typing for approximately 90% of a typical working day.
  • Ability and means to travel between Redwood City locations.
  • Ability to travel up to 30% of working time away from work location, may include overnight/weekend travel.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, Sociology, Business Administration, or related field as outlined in the essential duties; or High School Diploma/General Education Degree and 4 years of relevant experience as outlined in the essential duties in lieu of Bachelor’s Degree.
  • 7+ years of direct or consultative experience in the biotech or pharmaceutical industries in oncology treatment and/or diagnostics space.
  • 3+ years of experience in a marketing, market research, analytics, competitive intelligence, commercial, or payer assessment function with progressively increasing responsibility and scope and demonstrated strong performance.
  • 3+ years of experience working with healthcare providers, laboratorians, patients, and payers for primary and secondary market research regarding patient journey, message, campaign, third party payer development and testing, forecast development, positioning, and/or segmentation.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills in Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform the Essential Duties of the position with or without accommodation.
  • Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship. 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in STEM, Business, Analytics, or related field as outlined in the essential duties.
  • Experience in consulting, secondary analytics, or payer analytics.
