Position Summary We are building and operating a unique software stack of cloud infrastructure, software services, APIs, web and mobile interactive interfaces, and AI-driven data analytics pipelines to deliver life-saving results in the highly complex infectious disease landscape. The Karius test we provide today is one of the most advanced solutions available to physicians who aim to deliver better care to many otherwise ineffectively treated patients. Our test is the result of some incredible work done by our scientists, statisticians, engineers, and physicians, all driven by the same mission. You, as part of the Karius team, will be able to see how directly your work has a life-changing impact on people, and at scale. Primary Responsibilities Create automated test cases and test suites for our Next Generation DNA Sequencing (NGS) customer web portals and the mobile app. Coordinate with software engineers to create test steps, test utilities, and manage complex test data sets. Create tools to automate the management, documentation, and communication of tests. Interact with users and software engineers to be a system level subject matter expert within engineering. Understand how the system is used by customers and its functional behavior. Perform some manual testing, primarily for exploration and troubleshooting new workflows. Quantitatively monitor the development and test processes and drive continuous improvement with automated metrics. Physical Requirements Subject to extended periods of sitting and/or standing, vision to monitor and moderate noise levels. Work is generally performed in an office environment. Position Requirements BS or MS degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related technical fields involving algorithms or coding (e.g., physics or mathematics).8+ years of engineering experience, at least 5 years of which in SQE and 3+ years of hands-on web/mobile functional, integration, system, and API test automation. Experience testing mobile apps on iOS and Android including test tools such as Appium, Jest, and Robotium. Experience with ReactNative apps is a plus. Strong experience with open source tools such as Cypress, BDD/Cucumber, WebDriver/Appium, RESTAssured. Experience designing and implementing large-scale test suites from scratch along with maintaining and troubleshooting existing test suites. Experience setting up tests and testing applications on a cloud based platform (ex: AWS) and tying these tests into CI/CD pipelines. Experience developing software in the medical or healthcare industry is highly desired, including knowledge of regulatory and compliance requirements such as CAP/CLIA, FDA, 21 CFR, HIPAA, and GDPR. Experience working in a small dynamic startup engineering team. Experience developing web applications, services, and APIs on a cloud platform, preferred.Experience collecting software quality metrics with custom or off-the-shelf automated tools, preferred. Formal Verification and Validation in areas such as government contracts, financial applications, or the medical industry, preferred.
