YOUR MISSION: The main mission of this role will be to perform
the day to day operations for close including reconciliations,
journal entries, revenue calculations, etc. This role will also be
responsible for various tasks in the special projects that come up
including UAT testing, product implementation, etc.
THE OPPORTUNITY (AKA: Why you want this role over any other out
Zuora is looking for a skilled Senior Revenue Accountant to join
our Revenue Accounting team. Responsibilities will include all day
to day activities in the revenue process including contract review
for compliance with Zuora's revenue recognition policy, monthly
revenue close, account reconciliations, reporting and analysis, and
audit and SOX support. You will also participate in the
order-to-cash process with Deal Desk, IT, Professional Services
Operations, and Billing operations. You also will have the
opportunity to leverage the Zuora's order-to-revenue capabilities
for modern businesses. This is a critical role in a growing team
and requires an exceptional performer. The successful candidate
will be able to learn new processes quickly, adapt to ever-changing
priorities, communicate effectively, and work collaboratively
across the team and across multiple functions with a focus on the
professional services organization and revenue reserves. This
position reports directly to the Revenue Accounting Manager.
WHAT YOU'LL ACHIEVE
- Ensuring that revenue is recognized in accordance with
corporate policy under ASC-606
- Staying current on revenue recognition guidance and raise
interpretations of guidance with respect to company revenue
- Participate in all aspects of the revenue close, including
creating journal entries reconciliations etc.
- Analyze revenue trends specifically for our professional
services revenue stream and liaise closely with the professional
services organization and FP&A to clearly explain the
- Prepare external auditor deliverables
- Assist in the execution and maintenance of our internal
controls and voice potential process improvements to drive change
in the organization
- Work closely with the quote-to-cash teams to identify and
recommend process improvements in the quote-to-cash process.
- Assist in special projects
- Analyze and communicate changes to our bad debt reserve to
FP&A and other stakeholders within the organization.
- Assist in the discussions and perform analyses for other
revenue reserves that are required to appropriately account for our
WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL
- 2-4 years of revenue recognition experience, preferably with
Big 4 Public Accounting
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance (CPA preferred)
- Knowledge of revenue recognition US GAAP
- Intermediate to advanced Excel skills
- Excellent computer skills with MS Office software and Google
- Detailed-oriented with excellent analytical skills
- Experience using Zuora Billing and RevPro is a plus
- Software as a Service (SaaS) and NetSuite experience is a
- Experience with Python or SQL is a plus
