Its Guardant Health Oncology Platform is designed to leverage its capabilities in technology, clinical development, regulatory and reimbursement to drive commercial adoption, improve patient clinical outcomes and lower healthcare costs. In pursuit of its goal to manage cancer across all stages of the disease, Guardant Health has launched multiple liquid biopsy-based tests, Guardant360 and GuardantOMNI, for advanced stage cancer patients, which fuel its LUNAR development programs for recurrence and early detection. Since its launch in 2014, Guardant360 has been used by more than 6,000 oncologists, over 50 biopharmaceutical companies and all 27 of the National Comprehensive Cancer Network centers.

This role works out of our Headquarters in Redwood City, CA. Due to the Covid 19 Pandemic Guardant Health has temporarily classified this role as 'partial working from home status,' meaning as duties apply this role the person will be expected onsite a few days a week. We will fully return onsite at HQ when it is determined safe to do so.

Are you a recent or soon to be graduate with a quantitative background? Do you have an interdisciplinary background in molecular biology, engineering, and programming?

A successful candidate will be able to:

  • Display careful attention to detail and organization in applying scientific methods and engineering skills to test and develop automated workflows.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams working in a variety of projects to explore, develop, optimize, test, and put in place scalable solutions for sample processing workflows.
  • Contribute to protocol generation, report writing, and presentation preparation.
  • Operate, program, and troubleshoot liquid handling robotics platforms
  • Integrate automated methods with sample tracking and data management software
  • BS or MS degree in engineering or science, with 0-3 years of related experience. Preferred degrees; Molecular Biology, Genetics or Biochemistry, Bioengineering or, Chemical Engineering or a closely related discipline. Strong preference for a background in a quantitative discipline.

  • Demonstrated proficiency coding in at least one language is required (Python, R, C++, etc)
  • Experience working on engineering teams to solve complex problems through internship or coursework
  • Demonstrated understanding of the principles behind next-generation sequencing (NGS) technologies and/or standard molecular biology techniques. (ie: nucleic acid isolation and purification, DNA quantitation, PCR, etc.)
  • Demonstrated ability to organize and communicate complex technical information in a clear and concise manner to cross-functional audiences.

Employee may be required to lift routine office supplies up to 20 lbs and use office equipment. Majority of the work is performed in a desk/office environment; however, there may be exposed to high noise levels, fumes, and biohazard material in the laboratory environment. Ability to sit for extended periods of time.
