Job Title: Director of Product Development
Location: Redwood City, CA
The Director of Product Development provides strategic
leadership and product development expertise and leads genomic
assay and Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) library preparation
development within the R&D team.
Leads genomic assay and NGS library preparation development
R&D team in a hands-on manner from feasibility to product
Effectively plans, resources and achieves project milestones and
Provides leadership in the development process to ensure project
deliverables are achieved
Coaches and support team members to ensure best practice in the
execution of product development projects
Presents new technology or product talks at scientific
conferences or customer sites
Proactively engages with customers and sales representatives in
marketing and launch of new products
Establishes productive collaborations with external key opinion
leaders for new technology and product development
Innovates new ideas and works with Legal to draft patent
Conducts external technology evaluations and participates in
decisions and follow-up actions
Partners with PMO, Bioinformatics, V&V, Quality,
Manufacturing and Legal for new product development
At least 15 years of research & development experience and at
least 10 years of biotech industry experience in NGS development
5+ years developing kits or assays for the Illumina NGS
Expert knowledge and experience in qPCR and NGS development with
a proven record of developing assays from concept to product
