Job Description:
APosition SummaryThe Associate Scientist will perform
specialized flow cytometry and cell-based assay projects through
assay development, validation, and execution in a timely manner.
Perform assays according to SOPs and support development of new
procedures and improvement of existing SOPs. May perform other
plate-based assays.Essential functions of the job include but are
not limited to:
- Perform flow cytometry, as well as other immune and cell-based
assays such as ELISpot and MLR and plate-based assays such as MSD
assays
- Designs and conducts flow cytometry assays to develop and
validate new panels
- Support clinical sample testing and analysis
- Independently analyzes and organizes data
- Participates in client discussions
- Assist in establishing and improving all procedures and
required SOP documentation
- Identify, update and implement emerging laboratory
techniques
- Maintain and support safe lab practices and environment
- Act as a scientific resource externally to clients and
internally
- Assists with writing, reviewing and editing protocols and
reports as appropriate.
- May present completed work at appropriate scientific meetings
and in publications
- Other duties as assignedQualificationsMinimum Required:
- Bachelor's Degree with 8 years relevant lab experience; or
- Master's Degree with 2 years relevant lab experience
- Bachelor's or Master's degree with a concentration in Biology,
Chemistry or Life SciencesOther Required
- Experience with multi-color flow cytometry assays using both
whole blood or isolated cells
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational
skills required
- The ability to organize and analyze data and assist in
preparation of reports
- Must possess strong computational skills, preferably
experienced with Word, Excel, Power Point, GraphPad Prism, Diva,
and Flowjo
- Excellent use of judgment and discretion required
- Extended work hours may be occasionally necessary in order to
meet business demands
- The ability to see and differentiate between colors on the full
color spectrum
- Ability to lift and carry between 1-15 lbs.; Ability to lift up
to 50 lbs. overhead with assistance; frequently required to sit,
grasp, and use right/left finger dexterity; May be exposed to a
cold freezer environment (Freezer temperatures range between -20 -C
-196 -C)
- Must be able to read, write, speak fluently and comprehend the
English languagePreferred
- Familiarity with GLP and GDP
- Experience with FACS techniques
- Experience in cell-mediated immunity through flow cytometry, as
well as, ELISpot, ELISA, MSD, and/or LuminexAny data provided as a
