This role is based on-site in Redwood City (Redwood Shores), California
The Role & The Team
This group contributes to the new product concepts, development of novel ideas, -investigating variety of biological sample types, optimization and operation of the company's core proteomics platform.
The research associate will ideally have a proven track record of accomplishments in academia or in the life sciences/pharmaceutical/biotechnology industry. The successful candidate is likely to have a background in biochemistry, analytical chemistry or biology with more than 2 years of experience in developing assays and other molecular biology techniques.
Responsibilities & Goals
The Assay Research group is focused on the design, development and implementation of biochemical experiments using automated liquid handlers. Areas of specific responsibility and attention will include:

• Participate in biochemical experiments to support assay projects and development of the assay platform, with specific emphasis on proteomic assays.
  
• Duties including new assay design, assay optimization, assay troubleshooting, protocol development, sample analyzing and data analysis. Appropriate documentation of developed SOPs suitable for transferring to product development team.
  
• Interfacing with the Automation department for developing and testing automated assays with liquid handlers.
  
• Work with the broader Research team for developing new product pipeline and maximizing assay performance across all functional elements of the assay.
  
• Develop assay protocols and implement standard operating procedures.
  
• Effectively analyze data, document and present results in cross functional team meetings, R&D seminars and other forums.
  
• Support laboratory maintenance, including ordering and restocking supplies, and ensure cleanliness and compliance.
  
  Background & Qualifications
  The successful candidate must have a demonstrated record of accomplishments in academia or the life sciences industry. The ideal candidate will have had significant experience supporting and implementing assays in an industrial biotechnology setting. Candidates must bring a strong entrepreneurial orientation along with teamwork skills and an absolute commitment to competing with the highest level of integrity. -
  Key requirements include:
  
  • 
    
  • BS or MS with a strong academic background in biological science.
    
  • Experience with industry best practices and standards for product R&D.
    
  • Experience with molecular biology techniques (i.e. Protein/peptide sample prep and separation, RNA and DNA preparations, ELISA).
    
  • Strong written and oral communications skills, with demonstrated experience in cross-functional and timely communication.
    
  • Strong skills in documenting all aspects of assay throughput, to ensure accurate, clear and complete records.
    
  • Experience operating Hamilton / Tecan liquid handlers preferred by not required.
    
  • Strong and collaborative work ethic; must be a self-starter and persistent in achieving objectives to support Seer's scientific and business goals.
    
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a small team setting, while meeting scheduled deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
    
    At Seer, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $70,000 and $75,000 -and will depend on the candidates education, skills, qualifications, experience, and location. This position is also eligible for bonus, benefits, and participation in Company's stock option plan.
