Center (TME TRC) is focused on developing therapeutic targets at
the intersection of tumor, stromal and immune biology within the
TME with the goal of enhancing responsiveness to checkpoint
blockade and targeted therapies and transforming response and
durability rates for cancer patients. Comprising of scientists
across multiple disciplines we are responsible for the biology and
translational science necessary to support drug development from
target identification through to first in human studies.Position
Summary:We are seeking a highly motivated, agile, and experienced
candidate to join Flow Cytometry group within the Translational
Research team at the Tumor Microenvironment Thematic Research
Center (TME TRC) in Redwood City, CA. Our group is responsible for
developing and validating all flow cytometry-based complex
multi-parameter biomarker assays from program inception to First in
Human studies, in alignment with clinical development objectives,
as well as clinic-ready target engagement and pharmacodynamic
biomarker assays for TME TRC programs. The deep immunophenotyping
data generated from this group will influence a broad array of
decisions around dose optimization, indication prioritization, and
potential drug combinations. This role will require Monday through
Friday onsite work at our Redwood City CA location.Position
Responsibilities:In the role as a Senior Scientist within the TME
TRC Flow Cytometry group, the ideal candidate:
- Has a deep understanding of immunology and cancer biology and
serves as a subject matter expert.
- Has a particular passion for all aspects of creating,
developing, executing, evaluating, troubleshooting, validating, and
implementing high dimensional flow cytometry assays (30+ colors,
Cytek Aurora preferred), including deep immunophenotyping of immune
cell subsets and receptor occupancy endpoints, to support our
translational and pre-clinical efforts in a variety of oncology
disease models.
- Be responsible for delivery of robust, high quality data
packages, and provides subject matter advice to teams in the
selection of antibody panels and panel constituents.
- Ensures all work is conducted in compliance with regulations
and follows the appropriate SOPs with organized record
keeping.
- Be able to handle multiple projects concurrently and possesses
a good balance of creative and analytical skills
- Collaborates with internal scientists and our external business
partners (both Academic and CRO) to integrate flow-based biomarker
data into an overall understanding of drug MOA and efficacy.
- Serves as a technical and scientific expert on project
sub-teams, including contributing ideas, developing plans,
execution of the plan, timely reporting of complex scientific data,
drawing conclusions, and making recommendations.
- Develops partnership and collaborates with members of research,
automation, bioinformatics, process development, high-throughput
screening, and clinical flow cytometry groups across sites within
the organization to enable novel flow cytometry technology and data
analysis breakthroughs.
- Must be able to set and understand priorities in a local and
matrixed environment, must be a team player with a collaborative
spirit, and capable of building and maintaining networks within and
outside the organization.
- As a member of the Flow Cytometry group, serves as the backup
for the upkeep of flow cytometry equipment, and contributes to
novel scientific tools and capital equipment evaluation for
effective and through early-stage research and pre-clinical
programs to ensure that technical and scientific standards meet
state-of-the-art expectations.Experience = Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree
- 7+ years of academic and / or industry experienceOr
- Master's Degree
- 5+ years of academic and / or industry experienceOr
- Ph.D. or equivalent advanced degree in the Life Sciences
- 2+ of academic and / or industry experiencePreferred
Qualifications:
- Ph.D. with 2+ or M.S. with 7+ years of academic and/or industry
experience in immunology, cancer biology, biomedical science, or
related disciplines, with Immunological knowledge covering
phenotyping of multiple subpopulations of cells
- At least 3 years prior hands-on laboratory experience working
with high dimensional flow cytometers (Cytek Aurora preferred, or
BD Symphony A5 SE), with design and execution of 16+ color flow
cytometry panels
- Theoretical and hands on experience with commercial flow
cytometry software including BD FACS Diva, FlowJo, OMIQ, Cytobank,
or FCS Express for high-dimensional data analysis (e.g., tSNE,
UMAP, SPADE, CITRUS, FlowSOM)
- Experience with cell culture techniques and tissue processing,
and background in working with immunology or oncology samples
including whole blood, PBMC, cell lines and single-cell suspension
from tissue samples
- Experience in the design, development, troubleshooting,
validation, and implementation of novel flow cytometry assays to
support translational and pre-clinical measurements and their
transition to clinical development when applicable
- Experience with complexities of reporting and presenting high
parameter data to clinical flow cytometry colleagues, with
understanding of clinical and non-clinical flow cytometry biomarker
assay development, validation, and implementation
- Ability to maintain a disciplined approach, ensuring a
relentless focus on quality, compliance, scientific rigor, and
operational excellence
- Experience with laboratory robotics and in improving flow
processes
- Demonstrated judgment and decision making, especially for
handling and prioritizing multiple requests and tasks in parallel
with internal and external collaborators, and the ability to work
to tight deadlines and in high pressure situations
- Excellent collaboration and interpersonal skills to contribute
to biomarker testing strategies and communicate efficiently with
colleagues from all phases of clinical drug development, and
operate effectively in a highly matrixed environmentThe starting
compensation for this job is a range from $109,000.00 -$150,700.00,
plus incentive cash and stock opportunities (based on
eligibility).The starting pay rate takes into account
characteristics of the job, such as required skills and where the
job is performed.Final, individual compensation will be decided
