Land, Buildings & Real Estate (LBRE) is the operational core of Stanford University's physical campus. Stanford Real Estate (SRE) manages the University's land endowment, comprised of 15.5 million square feet of office, Research & Development, and hotel assets, and with assets under management currently valued at $6.7 billion. SRE's mission is investing and optimizing the risk-adjusted value of Stanford's income-producing lands and it deploys real estate expertise to serve University priorities. Nearly all revenues earned from SRE's diverse portfolio support the University's general fund and SRE's transactions are governed by the Stanford Management Company Board of Directors. SRE is a department within Land, Buildings and Real Estate (LBRE), an entity that serves Stanford University's academic mission through the development and operations of the University's 8,180 acres of land holdings. 4,200 of those acres are dedicated for campus and related uses, while SRE oversees the remaining 3,900 acres for commercial, hospitality, residential and agricultural uses. SRE is proud to support Stanford University's mission of providing education, world-class research, the arts and economic opportunity to the local and global community. - Job Family: -Finance Job Code: -4452 Grade: -H Exemption: -Exempt Location: Stanford Redwood City Campus Flexible Work Schedule: Hybrid Fixed Term Position- 2 years What you will do in this role: Reporting to the Real Estate Associate and part of SRE's Asset Managem ent and Portfolio P erformance team, the Investment Analyst is the ideal opportunity for a highly-motivated early-career professional to gain experience in real estate investment, development, and asset management within Silicon Valley. The Investment Analyst provides broad analytical support for SRE and will assist the Associate on the annual valuation of SRE's portfolio of assets, transactional and operational analyses, development pro forma modeling, and portfolio value-creation analyses. Core Duties Responsibilities:

  • Create and update financial models in Argus and/or Excel for asset valuation as directed by Associate -
  • Assist in managing the annual appraisal process, including validation of appraisal assumptions and inputs
  • Assist in the underwriting and evaluation of real estate acquisitions and developments
  • Prepare and update tearsheets on all investment assets
  • Help create and maintain database documents with historical market data.
  • Keep track of and maintain market reports
  • Conduct market research and analysis to evaluate economic and demographic trends and real estate market fundamentals
  • Draft -bespoke development pro forma analyses for SRE's development team on an as-needed basis
  • Draft presentations and summary memos on an as-needed basis -
  • Prepare presentations and summary memos on an as-needed basis
  • Help develop and update portfolio-level dashboards for the SRE portfolio and sub-portfolios
  • Help develop and maintain leasing and transaction activity database -
  • Assist Associate and the Finance and Lease Administration team in tracking and reporting on the financial health of portfolio tenants
  • Provide due diligence and other transaction assistance on SRE's acquisitions and dispositions
  • Prepare and distribute weekly market updates regarding the Research Parks largest stakeholder

    • Bachelor's degree or -graduate degree and professional experience through internship, part-time or full-time work, and /or extracurricular activities.
    • A demonstrated career interest in real estate investment or development.
    • Extraordinarily high level of motivation and commitment to working hard.
    • Strong technical/quantitative skills with demonstrated ability to execute complex financial analysis.
    • Ability to communicate effectively with senior management and investment professionals.
    • Proficiency required in MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. -Proficiency in Argus is strongly preferred.
    • Self-starter, ability to work independently with minimal supervision, and on a collaborative basis as part of a team.
    • Accuracy, attention to detail, ability to multi-task, and organizational skills.
    • Team orientation and strong interest in supporting the work of a university endowment.
    • Demonstrated flexibility to handle multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
    • An individual who demonstrates a sense of personal accountability and urgency for achieving results
